Week 4

Its already week 4, i left with another 8 weeks of internship in SapuraCrest(uish, lama lg nk hbs ni)

ok guys, as usual, my job here is never ending with design. Now i was given a task to give dimension on a tank for a platform. I don't think so i'm gonna like this assignment, this involve with one part being assigned dimension, it sounds easy but u should look at the drawing, i thought a tank is simple, just 4 sides of steel panel welded together, but turn out to be there are lots of reinforcement inside of the tank to make sure that it can hold the weight of the fluid inside of it and to prevent excessive amount of stress on the welded joint. And again, there are few things that i need to do which is, the general dimension, then the flanges position and the size used, and the reinforcement of the tank. everything must be separated accordingly since we need to make sure that the manufacturer can understand the drawing. Then i need to specify the lifting lug dimension. FYI lifting lug is a part that will support the tank when it is bolted on the platform. We need to calculated the suitable size in order to avoid failure. I guess this the only thing that i'm gonna do today.

more drawings (late entry)

hello and welcome again to my blog (hahaha, mcm dr azree pny video numec)

Yesterday would be more drawings for me, as today, i need to draw electrical panel for the water treatment on a battleship of Malaysian navy. cool rite, i wouldn't thought that doing the drawing was a hell of a job. After that, they gave me the water treatment P&ID for the battleship in order for me to familiar with the process. I was shocked to see the drawing since there were lots of piping, pumps, and not to forget the valves. Suddenly while studying the process, Faizul(the project engineer) asked me to to some alteration to the drawing. He gave me the specs and ask me to add up few things and name all the parts. I was not that happy since the design is like Rojak, where there are many piping overlapping, tonnes of valves and not to forget, the flow direction. It was haywire since there are lots of things need to be understood. It takes me 2 solid hours just to add few things, but it is quite a good experience though. Faizul would be the one who teach me a lot during my internship. He is the one who kept on giving me drawing to draw, eventhough it is good, but he expect me to draw like a true engineer, not a 'cincai' drawing, hahaha

today updates will be posted tomorrow or maybe next week, till then, toodle...

Drawings

hello guys, today entry would be quite interesting

Tuesday would be my busiest day. The moment i step into the office, there were a file of drawings on my table. I've been asked to read the drawing and edit the drawing according to the specs.I thought it was only a drawing that I've been asked to read and edit, but actually i need to read back and edit more than 40 drawings, and the dateline would be, wait for it..... on 5:00 pm since the project engineer need to show it to client in Sabah early tomorrow morning. Therefore i need to read all the drawing adjust the typical error and do some improvement on the drawing, print it out in A3 size paper, chop it the company logo, file it, do the checklist and pass it back to the project engineer. It was quite an experience to do something that much in that short time. So i manage to finish the task given at 4:50 pm, and hand it to the project engineer before he go for Sabah.Luckily as a student, we normally procrastinate and do the job last minute, so this task shouldn't be a problem to me, hahaha... eventhough i didn't do that

Till then, Sayonara

Monday

yesterday was quite a dull day, since i have to check design specs and transfer it to the drawing, more editing to do since we decided to make the system to be less complicated, finalized everything withe my supervisor and thank god, this will be the last time the drawing will be altered. Now my job is to print the P&ID of the project design and pass it to the project engineer to be send for project bidding. Btw P&ID is actually means process and instrument diagram. Now my first project has completed. Just need to wait whether we win the bid or not.

As i thought that my job has finished for today, at 5 o'clock, Idrus gave me on assignment, which is to find vendor for electrical parts of the other project. I need to send RFQ to the vendors in order to know how much is the project worth. Again, i start google-ing again, kinda expert in google-ing now.. found somevendors and have to wait since its already 5.45...

Wow, didn't imagine that i would be late for today, so the job need to be continued tomorrow. Nice.. there are job waiting for me tomorrow, which means not another boring day, hahaha

Bored

Hi guys, my updates for the last week internship with Sapura Crest

not much to be shared since i've been doing the same job everyday, designing, designing and designing, started to fell like s**t since i dont really like designing, the whole day spending my time in front of the PC, just to design the project... Plus with tonnes of alteration to the design due to change of material used in the project makes me feel like wanting to threw the PC away... Never thought that my industrial training would be like taking MDP all over again. Not that i hate doing MDP, but the process is tedious and challenging by the way, challenging means its makes me annoyed like hell... Sorry for the quite emotional entry for this time, because i do really not enjoying the second week of my internship... It is full of designing and alteration of design last minutes with ridiculous alteration...

that all that i can share for the time being.. Hopefully the third week going to be much interesting as the designing process has completed..

regards,

Syed Jaafar

that is what i did for yesterday o_o

busy day

hello, as far as i know, im entering the second week of my internship.. yeah

Today started with me enduring a very tiring morning drive to sapura, and pay expensive parking, RM4 per entry, everyday for the next 3 months, pfffft... Then when i entered my office, there was nobody except for kak rina, my cubicle neighbor, had a chat with her for a while.thought that today gonna be a boring day since i dont have any job to do, so i played pinball for half an hour, then the folowwing would be what i did for today

8:30- the big boss came into office and greeted him.

9:00am - my supervisor called me and other engineers for discussion on our project (still in bidding process, so it is confidential. The discussion was very long since we have to determine the BOM of the project, the vendors, and calculation on what type of pump and control that we need to use. Really enjoy the discussion since lots of calculation involved since after a week without calculation. everyone has been assigned with our own task to do with a dateline this Wednesday.

12:00pm - just finished the discussion, start to do the task that has been assigned, which is drawing(again), and find parts for the project.

2:00pm - finished my drawing, approved by my boss(Yeah, getting good in drawing and designing). Start to do the RFQ for the project.

5:00 pm - finished my RFQ and emailed to my supervisor for checking purposes. After being reviewed, i need to find the supplier of the parts, the coolest process, call the company. Good experience since the company have tonnes of phone number, and had to call each number, turned out to be the number is all fake, and other company number, so called professional to give the wrong details.... Finally need to contact directly to the supplier, which is in USA. Cool, i just emailed to USA to request for quotation.

5:40 pm - finished my job, go back home with nothing to worry about the work

Cant wait what going to be for tomorrow..

wonderful day

hello guys, to day i am so happy since today is friday, hahahah(xtau knape ske sgt)...

Ok, let me share my experience today. Early in the morning, i had a meeting with my supervisor, yeah... He ask me to do some minor adjustment to the design that i was given task to, yeah again.. Then, after getting a green light from the boss, the design is a success, this would be my first design that has been approved, cool.

After finished with the drawing, so my colleague ask me to do some filing of catalog that we got from yesterday water expo. This would be the first time i've been asked to do filing, haha.. Such a boring task to do where i need to separate the catalog accordingly, huh..

Then, got into another meeting with the boss, now he asked me and a colleague to do RFQ for the project. Good, another thing that i need to learn today. Btw, RFQ stands for request for quotation. Need to flip through brochures and find the suitable spec for the project.. Tiring and annoying job to do. Then need to email it to the vendors.

Thats all for today entry.. really happy that i have finished my first week, n it is an exiting week for me. More entry for next week... Wait for it, haha

UPdates

hi, i forgot on the blogging thing..
so these are updates for my experience from my first day till today...

MONDAY
this is my first day at the office, went to the HR dept to register me as their intern, filling up a pile of forms. Then i've been introduced to my dept by a colleague, Arina. I,Ve been introduced to my supervisor, n he gave a briefing on what the company does. Then i've been introduced to all member of the office. Later that day, i was shocked when i,ve been called to the project engineer office where he gave me a project to design. The project is quite confidential since it is under design process. I was given a file for all the specs of the project and need to study it.

TUESDAY
Second day, i was given a plan of the project. Given a task to design, a specific part of this project. I've been given trust by the project engineer to design it according to the specs of the project. I need to complete the drawing today as it is due for another 2 weeks. At the same time, i was given an opportunity to sit with an engineer that design a piping system for a vessel.

WEDNESDAY
Today, as the drawing of the project has completed, i submit the drawing to my project engineer, n the drawing was evaluated and some alteration need to be done. Preparing the BOM of this project would be the hardest part since the parts is too many and to many specs need to comply with.

TODAY
After finish with the drawing, n the drawing was approved, I've been taken on a trip to a convention at KLCC. Here, i need to find vendors in order for me to send request for quotation(RFQ). It was an interesting trip since i've been given a chance to talk to vendors about the project. Then my project engineer, ask me to send the RFQ to all these vendors in order to know how much is the project worth.
